John Huff is a seasoned operations and media executive currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at Huff Contracting. With a strong track record in leadership, strategy, and operational execution, John brings decades of experience to his role, driving growth, efficiency, and innovation across the organization.
Prior to his current position, John built his professional foundation in the broadcast industry with KWWL (News 7). Over the years, he held progressively senior roles including General Sales Manager, Station Manager, and Vice President / General Manager. His media and leadership experience have equipped him with expertise in revenue strategy, team development, cross-functional operations, and community engagement.
John holds a degree in Communications, Public Relations & Advertising from Marycrest College. He is known for a collaborative leadership style, precision in execution, and a focus on aligning operational decisions with long-term business goals.
A lifelong Catholic, John’s entire education and upbringing were rooted in Catholic schools and the Catholic faith—an experience he credits with shaping his values and commitment to service. His connection to inclusive education is also deeply personal. John’s best buddy and nephew, Jake, was born with Down syndrome and received a heart transplant at a very young age. Although Jake’s family had the means to provide him with the support he needed, he did not attend Catholic schools due to the lack of resources and staff available to accommodate his disabilities. This experience reinforces John’s passion for helping Catholic schools become more inclusive and accessible for all children.
Outside of work, John is active in his local community in Waterloo, Iowa. He stays engaged in professional networks and enjoys leveraging his media background to support strategic communications efforts that make a difference.
